Took it to the range that evening to see if it would go as far as my tour burner Tp with ozik shaft. It seemed to go just as far in the air and continued to run on the ground when it hit. Seem to be easier to hit strighter also. I also have an R9. The R7 Limited seemed exactly like the R9 except for the fact that the R7 goes further. I loose 10 — 15 yards with the R9 compared to my other drivers so it is going up for sale. R7 limited is a steal at plus free golf shoes.
Love the review, I played a D2 last year and although i hit it OK i thought i could get more. So I first picked up a Tour Burner 9. So last week i was in my buddies shop and was looking at the R9 he said take the R7 Limited out you might like it and the price has come down. Just one add on, nothing to do with the club itself. Just received my free shoes.
They are last years powerbands with mesh on the upper half of the shoe. The Sound, Feel, and Distance does it Big time. And its very light. Compared to the r9, which is kind of heavy. I bought the r7 limited from golf galaxy left hander Having played the RXD for several years, I decided to look at replacing it. It does what I need it to do, but seems heavier then other newer TM drivers and I like that. If you were to compare the two, would the R7 Limited be a better choice for a 60 yr old with a lowering ss?
What do you mean by a lower ss? Some seniors consider mid- 90s slow. While it is soooo light, it has a mid-bend point and the combo is a killer.
My ss is high 80s to low s and this is my longest Taylor yet!!!!!! I have a R7 Limited TP, The sound it makes is non metallic, almost fiber insert on persimmon. Even with my cache of TLC weights I could not find a weight combo that would produce a fade.
However, tweaking the weights does change the trajectory. More weight in the back port sends the ball higher. The draws I hit with this club are muted and manageable, so far. That should also cut down on the left bias issue with my swing. A fine club and a really cool, understated headcover. Last weekend I borrowed a friends R7 Limited and loved it. My shortest drive was and hit most and two drives at I usually hit a fade and tend to end up on the right side of the fairway.
Whatever the technical details, the reality was all the proof I needed. He said its the hottest club they have and if you can find one get it.
Simply stated yds farther and straight. When my previous drives would start falling this is still climbing. Only 25 yds you may ask, but a 9 iron instead of a 7 or better yet a 6 instead of a 4, yes its a big difference.
We wont even talk about being in the fairway at rather than stuffed under a tree at Last year my brother came out with his R7, 3 screw, triangular shaped club. I crushed the ball R flex 9. Recently I went to a seminar at Golf Galaxy and there in the used clubs was the R7. I bought it after hitting it into the screen, took it out yesterday and out drove my buddy by no less then 25 yds. I like the Titilist D2 driver but I hit more fairways with the R7 with no loss in distance.
I recieved the r7 Limited this past Christmas as a surprise- my wonderful wife heard me talking about it and pleasantly surprised me- it is BY FAR the best driver I have played- the slice is non-existent and i am hitting the ball on average about yards longer than before. Conclusion So did TaylorMade save the best r7 for last? Way to go TaylorMade…. The BG shafts are the real highlight. They are somewhere between the mp32s and mp60s in terms of forgiveness. The Nike irons are nice an will make you a better ball stricker, but I needed just a touch more forgiveness. Some people have said they think the cavity back is ugly or too busy. Its fine to me and does not show during set up, so who cares.
I was scouping and not pinching. The distance is about a half club longer an average with little loss for minor misshits. I did manage a 83 with hacking the front in 44 and calmed down on the back for a I got mine with the stock DG R's I went back to the store, and checked another set, and again I'd double check the shafts before you buy, because it looks like a lot of the R7 TP's I've seen in UK shops are soft stepped I really liked this set, especially the forgiveness.
More than the MP60's i had been using before they were stolen. I've been hitting some very good shots with the r7 TP's, but they are a bit longer than the MP60's. I'm thinking to put Project X 5.
Does someboby have Project X in the r7 TP's and what do you think of it? I put the 7 Iron in my freq anaylzer and it came up at CPM. That is a little below middle of the road Reg. I will freq the whole set tonight and post. Personnaly, I think I will hard step and see if hat lowers the fligh a little. Update: I did get a chance to frequency the set with grips on Lamkin Torsion control and the following are the numbers.
Note: The stock lie angle was flater than the spec on Taylor Mades web site. I did manage to bend them about 3 deg up. I will check out the approx distance from tip to first step to determine if they were soft stepped.
After years of Pings, Titleists, and Cally's The R7 TP Tours. I have mine with Nippon shafts. Most accurate, and soft iron I have ever hit.
Fogiving too. I have a very difficult time changing clubs. Mainly my irons. I still have my last three sets. A set of Vardon Cups. I first noticed them on the web looking at a picture of them from the address position they had a real classic look to me. I like the wider sole on them. I hope for two things from my new irons a bit more distance. But mostly something a tad easier to hit from bad lies.
Reading your reviews I am more excited than ever. So thankyou I pick them up Friday play my practice round and then Sat and Sun is my clubs big two man tournament. You bet they will be in the bag. Switched to these a 1. I was usually shooting mid 90's before I got the r7 tp's. These clubs feel amazing ball jumps and feels soft, miss hits still go. You have to figure technology has changed a bit in years, right?
Go figure, without even trying I made my golf game easier! I just got off a very wet, rain-soaked course and I am extremely impressed. Much longer and more accurate than my first try at replacing my LCG's, which were custom fit MX's with frequency tuned Rifle 5. These are easily 1 club longer and mis-hits were not heavily penalized today. These are NOT impossible for someone who usually shoots north of 90 to hit well, I had several sweet shots today.
These clubs will get me to the next level and several levels past. I'm so happy I took a chance with "players" clubs, they are sweet!!! Well I love my new TP7's I got the stiff shafts and have not looked to see which ones they are have not had time. I put them in the bag Fri and played my first round. I also went away from softy grips to the lighter grips and change my woods and hybrid. I have not yet changed my Volkey wedges.
Right away I loved the look and feel of the clubs. The only thing I noticed was from a good lie or a tee I can really hit them high. I have to be a bit careful even then the ball does not tend to balloon its just high. It was love at first hit for me.
Mostly over the weekend we played the short tees and it was wedge wedge wedge, when I did hit the new clubs I hit all pretty full shots often taking the shortest club and hitting it hard. From a normal fairway lie I do not hit them too high and I am at least a club longer. At 58 years old I am hitting the ball the same distance I did when I was Thats basically hitting a seven iron to without having to step on it.
Today I played a normal round at my club from the back tees. Its about yard not long. I started experimenting a bit with knocking a couple irons down and taking a little off a couple short irons. The clubs responded perfectly. Slightly downwind, out of some rough a bit of a flyer lie I hit a seven iron from out my longtime playing partner thought I was nuts.. The ball jumped a little and flew past the pin.
I am more than a bit excited with my new sticks. My short game has improved the last year ten fold I quit drinking, not that I drank on the course but it lowered my blood pressure My driving has been about the same but my ball striking has slipped. Right now I feel like my swing is real close to the best its been in years. I look forward with my new clubs to peeling a couple shots off my handicap and having a good tournament season. Just picked up my set of these today, and got 6 holes in with them after work.
I shoot high 70s on a moderate day. Shot even for the six holes, if the putter didn't take a vacation it would've been lower. First off, the first shot I ever hit with this set was the 3 iron from about yards away from the rough after a terrible drive on a par 5. I figured I'd hit my 3 iron to lay up, because I wanted to see the feel and forgiveness of the low irons in this set. I got my target in a narrow landing area, swung, and immediately knew I hit the ball off center towards the toe.
However, instead of the ball just lazily flying yards, I was surprised to see the ball still take off, and fly just past the yard marker, leaving me 80 yards into the green. With my old Ta3 3 iron, I know for a fact that a ball hit on the same location on the clubface would struggle to make it yards.
Hit nothing more than 6 iron after that, and the 6 iron I hit a little off towards the toe side on a yard shot, and it still got to the pin, about 15 feet to the left of it.
So I was happy there. They provide just enough forgiveness that I'm looking for, as well as the look and feel I'm looking for. I don't hit the ball perfectly everytime, but to know that even if I'm off some day, these irons aren't going to drag my game down.
Don't like the look at all and am not mad about the feel but I hit a tray of 30 balls with the demo 5 iron last night and I simply cannot get over how every ball landed so close together. I have a question, currently, I am hitting my iron shot too high and want to keep it down and wish to have a more penetrating flight. My R7 shaft is R Does it help it I get them reshaft to stiffer shaft like X-Stiff?
I'm not sure about the ball flight, but I know that going from a R-shaft to a X-Stiff shaft is a bit drastic. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead. Only 75 emoji are allowed.
